Epsom road was a level crossing on the Melbourne side of the Showgrounds platform on the Flemington racecourse line. As can be seen, it was crossed by a tramway. In 1925 this roadway was lowered and is now an underpass. This photo was taken sometime between the line being electrified, 1919 and 1925 when the roadway was lowered. The view is looking west, the signalbox shown was known as "Signal box H" the signal arrangement at this time can be seen here
The tram shown is a Essendon Tramways single truck U class. |
