From time to time I come across photos that have no information regarding location and I'm hoping that YOU might be able to help

The photo below has a caption on the back saying "Glenrowan gates" and I see no reason to disagree. However, greater minds than mine say it is NOT
Glenrowan, but cannot say where it is, so "Where Is It?"
BELOW: Maritime history is not one of my strong suits, I'm guessing its on the "New Pier" at Port Melbourne but would like to know for sure.

F 130 on a mixed after a flood, the photo is taken from near a level crossing as a whistle board can be seen in the background, where is it?
I have had quite a few educated guesses about this photo and whilst it may never be definitavely identified the most plausible is that it is near
Chesney on the Benalla to Yarrawonga line.
